America Saves Week
PA Treasury is again supporting America Saves Week, which runs February 27 through March 3. America Saves Week provides an annual opportunity to encourage and support families to make informed choices when it comes to saving and protecting money, reducing debt, and building wealth.
The PA 529 College and Career Savings Program is partnering with experts to offer FREE webinars on cyber security, PHEAA’s PA Forward Student Loan Program and financial aid, and a session all about PA Treasury’s savings programs, including PA 529, Keystone Scholars and PA ABLE.

Treasurer Stacy Garrity and Center for Rural Pennsylvania Announce Findings of PA 529 Report
Pennsylvania Treasurer Stacy Garrity, Center for Rural Pennsylvania Board Chairman Sen. Gene Yaw (R-23), Center for Rural Pennsylvania Vice Chairman Rep. Eddie Day Pashinski (D-121), and Center for Rural Pennsylvania Executive Director Dr. Kyle C. Kopko today announced the findings of a study analyzing the differences in how residents of rural counties use and benefit from the PA 529 College & Career Savings Program compared to residents of urban counties.

Treasurer Stacy Garrity Announces Winners of PA 529 Day Promotion
Harrisburg, PA - Treasurer Stacy Garrity today announced the top award winner of Treasury’s 529 Day promotion, which was available for new PA 529 GSP accounts opened in May 2022. The winning account owners, Zach and Brittany Hebert of Allegheny County, received a deposit of $5,290 in the new PA 529 Guaranteed Savings Plan (GSP) account they opened for their son.

Treasurer Stacy Garrity Visits Northampton Community College to Promote PA 529 Program
Harrisburg, PA - Treasurer Stacy Garrity and area legislators today visited Northampton Community College (NCC) to promote Treasury’s PA 529 College and Career Savings Program. They were joined by College President Dr. David Ruth and Vice President of Student Affairs & Enrollment Dr. Sedgwick Harris among other college faculty and administrators for a tour of the campus. The tour included the Lineworker Training facility in Hartzell Technology Hall. Treasurer Garrity also spoke with two students who utilize their PA 529 accounts to help fund their education at NCC.

Schnecksville, PA - Treasurer Stacy Garrity and area legislators today visited Lehigh Carbon Community College (LCCC) to promote Treasury’s PA 529 College and Career Savings Program. They were greeted by College President Dr. Ann Bieber, Vice President of Enrollment Management Dr. Cindy Haney, Vice President of Academic Services and Student Development Larissa Verta and Executive Director of College Relations Linda Baker. Numerous administrators and faculty helped guide a tour of the campus which included visits to the Student Services Center, Nursing Suite, Makerspace, Amazon Training Center, Berrier Hall, the Community Services Center and the Library.

PA ABLE Surpasses $75 Million Savings Milestone

PA ABLE (Achieving a Better Life Experience) is a tax-free way for Pennsylvanians with qualifying disabilities and their families to save without affecting eligibility for government disability benefits. Funds are easy to access and may be used for a wide range of disability-related expenses.
